Research & Design

The G.D.M. research, design and development department is run by Stephen Knight (Meng) Mechatronics, our resident engineer. We also, of course, have an ongoing association with Staffordshire University through our technical consultant Dr Tariq Al-Shemmeri, Bsc, Msc, Phd, Ceng.

Any self respecting R&D department needs test equipment and we have invested likewise. We have two test rigs, one for testing oil coolers and one for water. The water test rig uses a twin stage suction fan and carefully constructed wind tunnel, to measure the exact air speed travelling through the cooler. The oil test rig has its own environmentally controlled test room with variable humidity as well as temperature. Both employ computerised data logging of temperatures.

Research into existing and new products will allow G.D.M. to improve on its already excellent customer relations. We look forward to being able to supply a whole new range of coolers from our in-house brazing plant. This controlled environment electric furnace produces a cooler which is thermally one single piece of aluminium. This gives the ultimate in strength and performance.

Our range of products extends from small ‘oxford’ type coolers to large ‘combi’ compressor coolers. We even produce cooler/cabinet sets ready to operate with your choice of fan. We would be happy to quote for all your oil cooler needs.
